What history says about Seich Sou..

The forest area located in the hills between Thessaloniki, Asvestochori and Panorama is called Dasos Seich Sou or Seikh Su. It is an artificial forest that was systematically reforested since the interwar period.

Its name, means Sheikh's water and came from a spring within the forest.

From 1800 until the 1900 approximately the area was a forest of oaks. The area was barren and the first attempt at reforestation was made 1929 by professors P. Kontos and H. Georgopoulos. In 60 years were planted approximately 5 million trees.

Today the forest of Seich Sou offers panoramic views of the city and operates as a recreation area.
