The Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki is the only similar museum in Greece. The 2008 recognized by the International Olympic Committee as ”Olympic”, ten years after its establishment as ”Sports Museum”.
The main objective of the museum is to capture the sporting history of the country and to preserve the sporting heritage. Alongside, the main intention was to create a living space, where museum information will mobilize the public to participate and promote the healthy features of sport.
In exhibitions, the museum hosts its permanent collection under the title ”Olympic Games”. The report is developed in two major sections, which refer to the Ancient Olympic Games and the Modern Olympic Games, while of crucial importance is the transitional section "Sports in the Modern Era" which gives the picture of the era before the revival of the Olympic Games until 1896.
Parallel exhibitions are hosted on the second floor of the museum, directly intertwined with the central theme of the Olympic Games. The periodical exhibitions that are already hosted or will be hosted in the next period of time are: ”Olympic Torch Relay – History of Dades 1936 -2008”, ”PARAOLYMPIC games”, as well as special exhibitions in international football clubs.

Work of Patroklos Karantinos, the Museum was inaugurated in October 1962, in the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the liberation of Thessaloniki. The new wing was inaugurated in July 1980. ANCIENT, GREEKS, BYZANTINE AND POST-BYZANTINE INSTRUMENTS (Katuni 12-14, Ladadika, tel. 2310 555263)

Housed in a restored traditional building. In its three rooms are exhibited over 200 musical instruments from the Bronze Age (2800 e.g.) until the beginning of the 20th century. They are all recreated with absolute fidelity, based on historical and visual evidence and archaeological findings. The design and manufacture are owned
to the musicologist and director of the Christodoulos Halaris Museum. In a specially designed room (amphitheatre) concerts are given with works of Byzantine music.

BYZANTINE CULTURE (ave. Army 2, tel. 2310 868570)

Designed by the Samian architect Kyriakos Krokos, the museum – historical preserved monument and work of art – was founded in March 1989 from the then Minister of Culture, Melina Merkouri, and was inaugurated in September 1994. Objects of Byzantine culture are exhibited in its halls – sculptures, Wall paintings, mosaics, pictures, metallurgical works, currency, inscriptions, glass works, ceramics etc. – from Thessaloniki and the wider region of Macedonia, dating from
Early Byzantine Period until the Turkish occupation. Of particular interest are the objects from the collections of Dimitrios Oikonomopoulos – 14th-19th century images., ceramics, currency, church documents, handicraft projects – and Doris Papastratou – 18th-20th century engravings., wood and copper dies -, as well as the permanent exhibition 'The twilight of Byzantium 1204-1453’ (between exhibits, his masterpiece gold-embroidered epitaph 1300, icon of Christ with the inscription 'The Wisdom of God', navel from the floor of the church of Hagia Sophia in Trebizond, remarkable frescoes, manuscript gospel 13th-14th c., collection of glass vessels). ON THE HISTORY AND ART OF THESSALONIKI (tel. 2310 267832)

It is housed in the White Tower. The exhibition includes ceramics, Wall paintings, sculptures, mosaic floors, wall mosaics, currency, inscriptions, pictures, glass and metal works.

DESIGN

Includes collection of classic industrial design items (Houseware, means of communication, office equipment etc.). The objects on display show the evolution of design in items of daily use. Periodic exhibitions and presentations of new products and designer works are held at the Museum.

JEWISH (Agios Minas 13, tel. 2310 250406-7)

It is housed in its preserve 1904, work of the Italian architect Vitaliano Pozelli. The Museum presents the historical journey of the Jews in Thessaloniki and of the Thessalonian Jews in Israel, as well as the genocide of the Jews of Thessaloniki by the Nazis (1941-1943). The Museum has a library and an audio-visual center.

HISTORY CENTER OF THESSALONIKI (Hippodamion square, tel. 2310 264668)

STATE OF CONTEMPORARY ART (Lazarist Monastery, Kolokotroni 21, Stavroupoli, tel. 2310 600123)

The Museum is housed in the old building of the Monastery complex and includes works by Greek and foreign artists. Particularly noteworthy are the works of the Kostakis Collection – the Zakynthian collector acquired them at the time of the dominance of socialist realism. An annex of the Museum is housed in Warehouse B1 of the Port of Thessaloniki.

CRYPT OF SAINT DEMETRIUS (church of Agios Dimitrios, tel. 2310 270591)

The museum area includes early Christian sculptures from the 5th-7th century. and Byzantine sculptures of the 11th-14th centuries. from the temple, excavation findings 5th-14th c. FOLKLORE AND ETHNOLOGY OF MACEDONIA - THRACE (Bas. Olga 68, tel. 2310 812343)

It was established 1970 and was succeeded by the Folklore Museum of Northern Greece, which had been founded the 1957 from the Macedonian Educational Brotherhood. It is housed in the mansion C. Modiano, listed building 1906, with a large garden, known as the Old Government. The Museum's collections include today 15.000 objects and groups

MACEDONIAN CONTEMPORARY ART (facilities of the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki, tel. 2310 281567)

MACEDONIAN STRUGGLE (Consul Koromilas 23)

It is housed in a neoclassical building from the end of the 19th century., designed by architect E. Schiller. On the ground floor, relics of the fight are exhibited, photographic material of the period 1900-1912, photos of Macedonian fighters. On the first floor, with an audio-visual system, the newest history of Macedonia is presented, while in the basement there is a room with scenes from the Macedonian Struggle (dioramas).

MUNICIPAL ART GALLERY (Bas. Olga 162, tel. 2310 425531)

On the second floor of Villa Mordoh, where it was built 1905, works of painters from all over Greece are exhibited, with an emphasis on the painters from Thessaloniki. Next to the works of the oldest Thessalonian painters you will also see works of the younger generation, which as a whole reflect all artistic trends. It is exposed, also,

CULTURAL CENTER OF NORTHERN GREECE (of the National Bank, Bas. Olga 108, tel. 2310 295170)

TELLOGLIA ARTS FOUNDATION (Agios Dimitrios 159 A, tel. 2310 991610)

The Telloglio Arts Foundation was established on 1972, with the donation of the art collection and the entire property of Nestor and Aliki Telloglou to the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
In the innovative facilities of the Foundation in terms of architectural design (5.500 sq.m.) three-story showroom included 2.500 sq.m., capacity auditorium 180 positions, library – A reading room, educational program areas, refreshment stand, shop – exhibition and researchers' space. The Foundation's collection,

The Telloglio Arts Foundation organizes periodic exhibitions, educational programs, banquets, days, seminars,

It was founded in 1978 and aims to save the technical and industrial heritage, familiarizing the public with technology and spreading the innovative spirit. It includes exhibits on the historical development of technology and the sciences, while organizing exhibitions, conferences and symposia, choose, seminars and student competitions.

PHOTOGRAPHY (Port of Thessaloniki, Αποθήκη Α', tel. 2310 566716)

It is an independent section of the State Museum of Contemporary Art and includes a significant number of photographs and negatives (photographs by contemporary and older Greek and foreign photographers, negatively, negatives and prints of the photographer Yiannis Stylianou et al.).
In collaboration with other institutions, the Museum organizes the 'Photographic Syngyria' every year, international photography meeting (exhibitions, talks, awards etc)
